REFRESH partners ACCIONA and Gees Recycling are participating in the 9^th Annual Wind Blade Materials Innovation and Sustainability Forum in Istanbul on 15-16 September.

Anurag Bansal, Head of Strategic Innovations at ACCIONA Construcción, Technology & Innovation Division, and Giorgio Betteto, CTO at Gees Recycling, are teaming up on a presentation on the theme of Overcoming Challenges to Achieve Circularity in Wind Blade Recycling.

REFRESH: from end-of-use blades to new products will present an overview of the REFRESH project’s holistic approach to blade recycling, covering the entire value chain. It will include a discussion of ACCIONA’s requirements as an end-user and how REFRESH addresses them. It will also explain the Gees mechanical recycling process and explore potential applications for recycled materials.

Gees is currently constructing the REFRESH mechanical recycling demonstration plant at its factory in Aviano, Italy. In Gees’ patented process composite materials recycled from decommissioned wind turbine blades will be combined with resin and press-moulded at high pressure to produce rigid panels.

ACCIONA’s role in REFRESH is to explore ways of integrating recycled blade materials into products for the construction sector.

The presentation is scheduled for 9 am on 16th September.

The Wind Blade Materials Innovation and Sustainability Forum is organised by TBM Group.
